PENNIES FROM
HEAVEN!!
Pennies??? Okay SoupMan, what wacky idea have
you come up with now???
Well folks, this time it wasn't actually my idea. It came from an
amazing 10 year old young man---Andrew Niemi of Carleton, Michigan.
He collected ONE MILLION PENNIES (which equals $10,000 dollars) and
then he donated the money to his school--St. Patrick's. Pretty
wonderful don't you think! In a world where some say our youth are
losing their way, this 10 year old went on a mission to help his
school. This is a young man who felt it was more important to
give than to receive. Not only did he NOT lose his
way, he showed us all that with a little bit of spunk and
determination we can all make a difference. I for one am inspired by
Andrew.
So okay SoupMan, that sounds like a wonderful story, but what's all
of this got to do with me? Well I'm glad you asked. I'm hoping that
you too will be inspired by Andrew. You or your church group, or
your school, or your organization can get together and raise ONE
MILLION PENNIES for the SoupMobile. Did you know that the SoupMobile
serves over 125,000 meals to the homeless in the Dallas area each
year? Did you know that it costs a pretty 'penny' to buy that much
food? Did you know that the SoupMan needs your pennies to help
keep feeding the 'least of these?'
So are you up for the PENNIES FROM HEAVEN Challenge? 10 year old
Andrew did it and so can you. Here's how to get started. Click
on this link Pennies from Heaven Sign up Form
and then get your group together and start collecting. Keep the
SoupMan posted on how you are doing and feel free to invite him to come and speak to
your group and cheer them on. Once you reach your goal lets get
together and invite the local TV and news people and have a
celebration. Lets show the world that the spirit of giving is alive
and well.
